What’s Playing at the Armory in Minneapolis in September 2026? Nine Shows, Six of Them Midweek

The Armory has nine shows in September 2026, and six of them fall between Sunday and Wednesday. That is the part worth noticing if you are staying downtown: the midweek nights nobody plans for are the ones with Lily Allen, Social Distortion and Lupe Fiasco on them.

From Oakland’s on 9th at 215 South 9th Street, the Armory is about a ten-minute walk — no car, no rideshare surge, no parking ramp. Here is the full month, taken straight from the venue’s own calendar.

The midweek shows are the underrated ones

Weekend concerts sell out and the neighbourhood fills up. Midweek is different. Wave to earth on Monday 21 September, Lily Allen on Wednesday 16 September and Lupe Fiasco with Gym Class Heroes on Wednesday 23 September are all school-night shows that most people talk themselves out of because of the drive home.

If you are already living downtown for a month, that calculation disappears. Doors at 6:30, home by eleven, ten minutes on foot each way. It is the single clearest argument for staying inside the city rather than commuting into it.

Getting there, and getting home

The Armory is at 500 South 6th Street, roughly half a mile from Oakland’s on 9th. Walk it and you skip the whole parking question — but if someone in your party is driving in, the venue publishes its own parking and directions page, and reserved ramp parking can be bought in advance.

For anyone coming from further out, Metro Transit’s trip planner is the reliable way to work out a route and a last ride home; downtown service changes often enough that it is not worth guessing. The Armory box office is open Monday to Friday, 11am to 6pm, and calls for hours on show days.

One honest note about the walk: Oakland’s on 9th is near the skyway system, not connected to it. You are a block from a skyway entrance, which matters more in January than in September, but on a warm autumn evening the street-level walk down 9th is the nicer one anyway.
