If your idea of the holidays involves mulled-wine steam, wooden market huts and a bit of German-style Christmas cheer, mark your calendar: the Minneapolis Christkindl Market returns Nov. 20 through Dec. 20, 2026. A furnished studio at Oakland’s on 9th puts you in downtown Minneapolis for all five weekends, with a full kitchen to come home to and no hotel-style checkout hanging over a long weekend.

When and where is the Minneapolis Christkindl Market?
According to the market’s official site, Christkindl runs on five weekends: Nov. 20–22, Nov. 27–29, Dec. 4–6, Dec. 11–13 and Dec. 18–20. Hours are Fridays 4 to 9 p.m., Saturdays 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sundays 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The market sets up at North Loop Green, 350 N. 5th St., in Minneapolis’s North Loop neighborhood at the north end of downtown. The site describes an authentic German-style Christmas market with more than 42 local vendors, European foods, live entertainment and family activities, including Santa visits on Sundays. Admission is not listed on the page we read, so check the site before you go.
Which weekend should you pick?
Thanksgiving weekend (Nov. 27–29) is the busiest stretch of the season, and Meet Minneapolis lists Christkindl among its holiday-season highlights alongside a Wolves game and the Vikings at U.S. Bank Stadium. If you would rather skip the crowds, the early-December weekends give you the same market with a little more elbow room. The opening weekend, Nov. 20–22, is the first look at the season.
How do you get from Oakland’s on 9th to the North Loop?
Oakland’s on 9th is at 215 South 9th Street in downtown Minneapolis, and the North Loop is across downtown from us. Use Metro Transit’s trip planner to find a bus or rail option for your hour, or take a rideshare home after the evening crowds. We do not recommend counting on a particular route; check the planner the day you go, since winter service can change. If you are not driving at all, our guide to getting to Julmarknad without a car works through the same logic for another holiday market.

Why stay a week or longer for the holidays
Oakland’s on 9th is a historic 1889 brownstone with furnished studios that include a full kitchen, WiFi, all utilities, heat and free laundry. There are no contracts: stay a night, a week or a month, and some units are pet friendly. That makes it easy to pair Christkindl with other December plans, which we map out in our guide to things to do in downtown Minneapolis in December. If you are hosting family, our post on cooking Thanksgiving dinner in a furnished studio shows how the kitchen works for a holiday meal.
