What’s the Difference Between the Good, Better and Best Studios at Oakland’s on 9th?

When you book at Oakland’s on 9th, you pick from three studio types: Good, Better and Best. Every one is a furnished, month-to-month studio in the 1889 brownstone at 215 South 9th Street, with WiFi and utilities included and free laundry on site. So what actually changes as you move up? Here is what each studio’s own page says, in plain language.

What do all three studio types have in common?

The basics do not change. Each studio has a kitchen with a fridge, microwave, stove top and the dishes and utensils you need to cook, a Smart TV, high-speed WiFi, a walk-in shower in a newly tiled bathroom and free 24-hour laundry. You can book by the day, the week or the month with no contract, and check-in is contactless with a personal security code. Our guide to what’s included in a furnished studio covers those details in depth.

Pet-friendly rooms are available in the Good, Better and Best categories. If you are bringing a dog or cat, ask for a pet-friendly room when you book, since not every unit allows pets.

The Good studio: compact and affordable

The Good studio is the budget-minded pick. The page describes it as a compact studio with everything you need, and notes that the cheapest way to rent it is by the month. It suits travel nurses, remote workers and anyone who wants a quiet, simple base close to HCMC and the U of M Medical Center.

The Better studio: room to spread out

The Better studio is pitched at longer stays, with comfy seating in the living area and what the page calls a really huge desk. The kitchen listing is the most detailed of the three, with big refrigerators, a stove top, a large microwave and a full set of pots, plates, bowls and cups. If your stay is a work assignment or a corporate relocation, this is the one that is built for it.

The Best studio: the city-view bay window

The Best studio is the City View studio. Its page highlights a huge bay window with downtown views, a park across the street and a big table set in front of that window for eating or working. It is described as a good fit for a staycation, a night out at the Armory or a romantic weekend, and just as good for a month-long stay.

How do you choose between them?

Think about how you will use the room. If you sleep, cook and head out all day, Good covers it. If you will work from the studio, Better’s desk and living area make it easier. If the view and the bay window matter to you, ask for Best. The pages do not list square footage or nightly rates, so check live availability and pricing on the booking page, and call us at (612) 314-5124 if you want help matching a studio to your plans. Where you are staying

The studios sit in downtown Minneapolis, within walking distance of Orchestra Hall, the Armory, Nicollet Mall, U.S. Bank Stadium and Target Field. The skyway is about a block away, so you walk a block to reach it; the building is not connected to it. For hospital stays, Hennepin Healthcare (HCMC) and M Health Fairview’s University of Minnesota Medical Center are both close, and the Metro Transit trip planner will map any route you need without a car.
