Mid-November is a big stretch for the Orpheum Theatre on Hennepin Avenue. On Saturday, Nov. 14, Steve Martin and Martin Short bring their comedy show for two performances, and just three days later the Tony-winning musical Maybe Happy Ending opens a six-day run. If you want to see one, or both, from downtown Minneapolis, a furnished studio at Oakland’s on 9th lets you stay a night, a week, or the whole nine days without a contract.

Steve Martin and Martin Short: Saturday, Nov. 14
The Best of Steve Martin & Martin Short plays the Orpheum, 910 Hennepin Ave., with two shows that day: 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. The listing on Explore Minnesota confirms two performances on Nov. 14; check the Hennepin Arts calendar for tickets and the latest times, since we found no prices published.
Maybe Happy Ending: Nov. 17–22
The musical that won six 2025 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, plays the Orpheum as part of the Broadway on Hennepin series. According to Hennepin Arts, the schedule is:
- Tuesday–Friday, Nov. 17–20: 7:30 p.m.
- Saturday, Nov. 21: 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
- Sunday, Nov. 22: 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
The event page lists a running time of 1 hour, 40 minutes with no intermission and an age recommendation of 7 and up. Tickets go through the Hennepin Arts site, and the press release notes that groups of 10 or more can request reservations separately. Because four of the six performance days are weeknights, this is an easy show to fit into a longer downtown stay.
Why a Furnished Studio Works for a Week of Shows
A hotel charges you for every night of a nine-day plan, and you still eat out for every meal. A studio at Oakland’s on 9th comes with a full kitchen, WiFi, all utilities, heat and free laundry, so you can cook a simple dinner before a 7:30 curtain and pack light for a longer trip. There are no contracts, which means you can book Nov. 14 only, Nov. 17–22 only, or the entire stretch. Compare the Good, Better and Best studios to find your fit; some units are pet friendly.

Getting From Oakland’s on 9th to Hennepin Avenue
Oakland’s on 9th is at 215 South 9th Street in downtown Minneapolis. The Skyway is one block away; the building itself is not connected to it, so you will walk a block to reach it. We are not quoting a walking time to the Orpheum: map your route with the Metro Transit trip planner before your show night, and leave extra time for November weather.
Make It a Full November Downtown
The Orpheum nights are only part of the month. Our guide to November in downtown Minneapolis covers the Timberwolves, football and Thanksgiving week, and we have written up the Minnesota Orchestra’s holiday season if you are staying into December.
