FinnFest USA, the largest celebration of Finnish and Nordic culture in North America, comes to downtown Minneapolis this September. If you are travelling in for it, the good news is that the host venue sits a few minutes’ walk from our front door — and a festival is exactly the kind of trip where a furnished studio beats a hotel room.
When is FinnFest USA 2026?
Meet Minneapolis, the city’s official destination organisation, lists FinnFest 2026 as Friday, September 18 through Sunday, September 20, 2026 at the Hilton Minneapolis.
One thing to be aware of when you plan: the festival’s public ticket listing shows a slightly longer window, running from Thursday, September 17 through Sunday, September 20. We are flagging both rather than picking one, because the difference matters if you are deciding whether to arrive Wednesday or Thursday night. Check with FinnFest USA and your ticket confirmation before booking travel, and if you are on the fence, the extra night is the safer call.
Where it happens — and how close we are
The Hilton Minneapolis is at 1001 Marquette Avenue South. Oakland’s on 9th is at 215 South 9th Street. That is a walk of a few minutes on flat downtown sidewalk — close enough that you can go back to your studio between sessions for a coffee or a nap, which is not a small thing across a four-day festival.

A note we always make plainly: we are not connected to the skyway. You walk about a block to reach it. Once you are in, the skyway system will carry you a long way indoors, which is useful if September decides to be September. Our guide to how the Minneapolis skyway works covers the entrances and hours.
Why a furnished studio suits a festival week
Festivals are multi-night trips, and multi-night trips are where a hotel room starts to feel small. Every studio at Oakland’s on 9th is fully furnished and has a full kitchen — so breakfast before a 9 a.m. session is a matter of walking ten feet, not queuing in a lobby. WiFi, heat, all utilities and laundry are included, and there is no lease and no contract. Stay a night, a weekend, or the whole week.
We keep three tiers — Good, Better and Best — so you can match the room to the trip. If you want the full list of what comes with a studio, we wrote it out in what’s included in a furnished studio downtown.

What else is on while you are here
Mid-to-late September is a good stretch downtown. There is plenty happening within walking distance during the same window, and we rounded it up in our guide to things to do in downtown Minneapolis in September 2026.
If FinnFest leaves you wanting more Nordic culture, the American Swedish Institute is a museum, cultural centre and café in a historic mansion a short ride south of downtown — a natural companion visit on a festival weekend.

Getting around
You will not need a car for FinnFest. The venue is walkable from us, and the rest of downtown is walkable or a short transit hop. The Metro Transit trip planner is the best place to check routes and times close to your travel dates. If you are driving in and need somewhere to leave the car, our parking page covers the options.
Book your FinnFest stay
September fills up downtown, and a festival at a host hotel takes the nearest rooms first. If you are coming for FinnFest USA 2026, book early. You can check availability and book online, or call us at (612) 314-5124 if you would rather talk it through — we are happy to help you pick the right studio for the week.
