We saved some of the original “parquet” flooring from the Oaklands. These are 1/4 inch thick oak pieces that went on top of the pine floor. It must have been a less expensive way to have a hardwood floor. In the early apartment ads they called them parquet floors likely because they had a border and some decorative mahogany striping mixed in. The last picture is a piece of the floor we cut out sanded and varnished to show what it might have looked like. We are sanding these down for a cool reuse project.
