This is amazing! These will be on the History Wall at the Oaklands on 9th for sure!!! These pictures really, really show what life was like at the end of the 1800s. Our architect, Harry Wild Jones built the
Swinford, which still exists! Look at the outside elevation rendering and the FLOOR PLANS! People walking on the sidewalks and streets with kids and talking to friends, no street cars or cars, a horse and buggy, houses and apartments mixed downtown, top hats and long dresses, cobblestone streets, but then look at the floor-plans!! You can examine that for hours!!! Notice how in the apartment they have a main stair and servant stair with a tiny elevator. with bathrooms positioned around a light shaft. There is so much to see here! It even has the sizes of the rooms! Anyone live at the Swinford now? I’d love a couple of interior pics!
