In Celebrating Historic Preservation Week in the 7th Ward, I have not been able to find a preservation project that City Councilperson Lisa Goodman @ Friends of Lisa Goodman did not help facilitate! How about the most gigantic preservation accomplishment of the last year? Rand Tower!! The Tower has a great backstory, and now thanks to Marriott’s vision, the cooperation of the City, and a cool $86 million (more than 4x the purchase price of the building a few years ago), the Tower now has an amazing future. It just opened as a stunning Art Deco hotel with an aviation theme to honor its original owner, Rufus Rand, a WWI pilot. Check out these pictures!
