The Minnesota Frost, the Twin Cities’ professional women’s hockey team, open their 2026–27 home schedule on Sunday, December 13, hosting the Seattle Torrent at Grand Casino Arena in St. Paul. If you are living in a furnished studio at Oakland’s on 9th for a month or a season, you can build a game day around it without owning a car. Here is how to think about it.
The Frost’s Home Dates Through Early January
The PWHL’s season opens December 5, and the Frost play at home on the dates below, per the league’s released schedule as reported by The Hockey News. That schedule lists start times in Eastern time, so we have converted them to Central; the home opener’s 1 p.m. Central start is also confirmed by FOX 9.
- Sunday, Dec. 13: Seattle, 1 p.m. Central (the home opener)
- Thursday, Dec. 17: Vancouver, listed at 7 p.m. ET (6 p.m. Central)
- Sunday, Dec. 20: Montréal, listed at 2 p.m. ET (1 p.m. Central)
- Thursday, Dec. 31: Hamilton, listed at 8 p.m. ET (7 p.m. Central)
- Sunday, Jan. 3: San Jose, listed at 2 p.m. ET (1 p.m. Central)
The same schedule shows more home dates in January and February, but at least two of them, Jan. 9 against Detroit and Feb. 6 against San Jose, list the venue as to be determined, so check the team’s site before planning those. Dates and times can shift, and tickets are sold through the PWHL.
Getting From Downtown Minneapolis to St. Paul Without a Car
Grand Casino Arena is at 199 Kellogg Blvd. W. in downtown St. Paul, across the river from us. Oakland’s on 9th is at 215 South 9th Street in downtown Minneapolis, and the Skyway is one block away; to be clear, the building is not connected to it, so you walk a block outside to reach it.
For a car-free trip, your two practical options are Metro Transit and a rideshare. Rather than quote a route we cannot promise, we suggest you plug your game time into the Metro Transit trip planner a few days ahead, and check service alerts on game day, especially in winter. If you would rather not think about it at all, a rideshare splits easily among two or three friends. For the afternoon games, which start at 1 p.m. Central, you have plenty of daylight and a relaxed trip home.

Why a Furnished Studio Works for a Hockey Season
A hockey schedule is spread over months, which is exactly where a month-to-month stay beats a string of hotel nights. Our studios are fully furnished with full kitchens, and WiFi, all utilities, heat and laundry are included, so a Sunday-afternoon game does not turn into a hotel-bill problem. There are no contracts: stay a night, a week or a month, and some units are pet friendly.
If you are in town for work, a visiting nurse assignment or a semester, a game or two is a good way to get to know the metro. Visiting for the whole winter? Our guides to getting to a Gophers hockey game without a car and to reaching a Vikings game without a car cover other sports in the same way.

Before You Go
Looking for other things to do in the Twin Cities that day? The Visit Saint Paul events calendar lists Frost home games alongside what else is happening across the river. Dress warmly, give yourself extra time, and keep the Metro Transit alerts handy.
Ready to plan a stay? Book Oakland’s on 9th online or call us at (612) 314-5124, and we will help you find the right studio for your dates.
